Ep 3. Microwave

The Kids Are Alright season 1 episode 3 starts off with a bang as the Microwave becomes the center of attention in the Cleary household. The family has been dealing with a broken appliance for weeks, and Alice, the family matriarch, has finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new one. Of course, she's looking for the best deal and intends to purchase one that is "discounted due to a scratch on the side that no one will ever see."

With a brand new microwave in the house, the kids are excited to take advantage of its many features. Timmy, the youngest Cleary kid, is especially enamored and spends hours pressing buttons to see what happens. Meanwhile, Eddie and Joey, the two middle children, are excited to see what new culinary creations they can make with their shiny new appliance.

But things start to get a little out of hand when the twins, Frank and Lawrence, decide to use the microwave to do some "experiments." They start off innocently enough, by microwaving some marshmallows and watching them expand to massive proportions. But things quickly escalate when they decide to try and cook an egg in the microwave.

As you can imagine, this doesn't go well.

The microwave explodes with a loud bang, sparking chaos in the Cleary household. With smoke billowing out of the kitchen and the smell of burning egg filling the air, the family frantically rushes to figure out what went wrong. Alice is furious and demands to know who caused the explosion, but the kids all blame each other.

Meanwhile, Mike, the patriarch of the family, is dealing with his own issues. He's been trying to quit smoking for weeks, but is struggling to kick the habit. With all of the chaos happening around him, he decides to sneak out for a smoke. But when he's caught by the family priest, he's forced to confront the reality of his addiction and the impact it's having on his family.

As the episode progresses, the family is forced to deal with the aftermath of the explosion. They all come to realize that, while the microwave may have been a fun new addition to their household, it's important to use it responsibly. More importantly, they realize the importance of communication and working together as a family to overcome challenges.

In the end, the Cleary's come out of the experience stronger and closer than ever. And while the microwave may be a little worse for wear, the family is grateful for the lessons they've learned and the memories they've created.
