Doug Less (2) is the second episode of the sixth season of The King of Queens. The episode follows the aftermath of Doug losing his job as a delivery man. Carrie is trying to support him emotionally, but Doug is struggling to come to terms with being unemployed. He spends his days watching TV, eating junk food and generally feeling sorry for himself.
Carrie decides that the best thing for him to do is to get out of the house and find a new job. She sets up an interview for him at a local sports store, but Doug is reluctant to go. He feels like he's too old and unskilled to find a new job, and he's worried about being rejected again. Carrie tries to encourage him, but it's clear that Doug's low self-esteem is holding him back.
Meanwhile, Arthur is thrilled that Doug is no longer working. He sees it as an opportunity for them to spend more time together and even tries to convince Doug to go on a hike with him. Doug is less than enthusiastic about this idea and tries to find ways to avoid it.
Eventually, Doug agrees to go to the job interview, but he doesn't prepare as much as he should have. He arrives late, disheveled and unprepared. The manager is unimpressed and tells Doug that he's not what they're looking for. Doug is devastated and goes back to his old ways of watching TV and feeling sorry for himself.
Carrie decides that she needs to take a dramatic approach to snap Doug out of his funk. She tells him that they're going on a surprise weekend getaway, but he needs to pack a bag and be ready to leave in 10 minutes. Doug is skeptical but goes along with it.
The surprise destination turns out to be a bed and breakfast in the countryside. Carrie has planned a weekend of hiking, fresh air and relaxation. Doug is initially resistant, but he starts to enjoy himself after they go on a hike and have a picnic.
During their time away, Carrie tries to encourage Doug to think about what he really wants to do with his life. She tells him that he's not stuck in his job as a delivery man and that he has the skills and experience to do something else. Doug is skeptical at first, but he starts to consider the possibility.
At the end of the weekend, Doug is feeling refreshed and more positive about his future. He tells Carrie that he's ready to start looking for a new job and that he wants to do something that he's passionate about. Carrie is proud of him and grateful that the weekend getaway was able to help him see things more clearly.
Overall, Doug Less (2) is a heartwarming episode that deals with themes of unemployment, self-esteem and finding one's passion. The chemistry between the characters is as strong as ever, and the episode provides a perfect mix of humor and drama. Fans of The King of Queens will not be disappointed.
