Ep 2. Do Something

The L.A. Complex season 1 episode 2 titled "Do Something" is a continuation from the pilot episode. It continues with the story of the six aspiring artists who live in the same building in Los Angeles as they try to make it big in Hollywood.

The episode opens with Abby (Cassie Steele) trying to make sense of her life. She is still reeling from her recent break up with Nick (Joe Dinicol) and feels lost. Beth (Dayle McLeod), the music producer, is struggling to find a gig for Kaldrick King (Andra Fuller), a rapper who is into drugs. Kaldrick is trying to get clean, but every time he goes out, he is tempted to use again. Beth's friend and fellow producer, Simon (Michael Levinson), gives her the name of a rapper who needs a beat. Beth is excited about the prospect of working with this rapper.

Meanwhile, Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore), the Australian actor, is at an audition for a part in a TV show. He is up against a seasoned actor, but he is determined to get the part. He impresses the casting director with his audition, but when he leaves, he realizes that he left his phone behind. He goes back to retrieve it and overhears the casting director talking about him. She says that he is too handsome and that the show is not looking for a leading man. Connor is upset by this, and it's clear that he doesn't want to be known just for his looks.

Finally, we see Alicia (Chelan Simmons), the dancer, struggling to make ends meet. She is constantly auditioning but is not getting any work. She gets an opportunity to be an assistant choreographer for a music video. She is ecstatic and takes the job, but when she gets there, she discovers that her ex-boyfriend, who is now a famous dancer, is also working on the project. She is hurt by his presence, but she decides to put her head down and do the job.

The episode ends with all the characters in different states of mind. Abby and Nick are still figuring out their relationship, Kaldrick is struggling with his addiction, Connor is coming to terms with his good looks, Beth is excited about her prospect, and Alicia is learning to work with her ex.
