Ep 8. Mama Said Knock You Out

Tray is doing his best to stay on the straight and narrow, but it's getting harder and harder to resist temptation. Especially when an old rival comes knocking. At the start of the episode, Tray is doing his best to stay out of trouble. He's working at a pet store, he's attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings, and he's even mentoring a young boy who reminds him of himself. But when an old acquaintance named Wavy (played by guest star Iso Joe) shows up in Brooklyn, Tray finds it hard to resist the pull of his old life.

Wavy is a drug dealer and a gang member, and he and Tray have a complicated history. They used to be friends, but things took a turn when Tray was sent to prison for dealing drugs. Now that Tray is out and trying to make a new life for himself, Wavy wants to pull him back in.

Tray is conflicted. On the one hand, he knows that getting involved with Wavy again would be a mistake. On the other hand, he can't help but feel drawn to the excitement and danger of his old life. Plus, Wavy has something that Tray wants: information about his father, who he hasn't seen in years.

As Tray grapples with his conflicting emotions, he receives some unexpected help from an unlikely source: his mother. Played by guest star Anna Maria Horsford, Tray's mother is a tough, no-nonsense woman who doesn't suffer fools gladly. But when she sees that her son is in trouble, she steps up to help him.

With the help of his mother and his AA sponsor, Tray tries to resist the pull of his old life. But when Wavy comes knocking once again, he may not be able to resist. "Mama Said Knock You Out" is a tense, emotional episode that explores the complex relationships between family, friends, and the past.
