Ep 1. Haunted Boys' Reformatory (#101)

The Lowe Files is a reality TV show in which father and son duo Rob and Matthew Lowe travel the country to investigate and explore paranormal mysteries. The first episode of season one, titled "Haunted Boys' Reformatory (#101)," takes the Lowes deep into the heart of Ohio to investigate one of the state's most notorious haunted locations.

The Mansfield Reformatory is a formidable structure with a somber past. Built in 1896, it housed some of Ohio's most dangerous criminals, but things started to go awry when the facility began taking in troubled young boys in the 1950s. Rumors of abuse and neglect began to surface, and in 1990 the prison was finally shut down due to inhumane conditions. Since then, countless visitors have reported strange occurrences and ghostly apparitions on the premises.

The Lowes arrive at the reformatory and meet with their guide, a former inmate who spent several years in the prison as a young man. He takes them on a tour of the grounds, pointing out various spots where paranormal activity has been reported. They explore the prison's many cells, corridors, and underground tunnels, all while keeping their eyes and ears open for any signs of unusual activity.

As night falls, the team sets up their equipment and prepares to spend the night in the prison. They begin their investigation in the basement, where they hear strange noises and see unexplained movements out of the corners of their eyes. After a short break, they return to the basement and set up a Spirit Box, a device that detects EVP (electronic voice phenomena). They begin asking questions, and to their surprise, they receive clear and intelligent responses.

The Lowes and their guide then move to the cell block where the troubled boys were once housed. They conduct a séance, hoping to contact any spirits that may still reside in the prison. The atmosphere becomes tense as they ask questions and wait for a response. Suddenly, the lights start flickering, and a wave of cold air washes over them. They take this as a sign that they are not alone.

Later in the evening, the team sets up a thermal camera and begins exploring the tunnels beneath the prison. They hear footsteps and other noises and eventually come across a small room that appears to be frozen in time. The walls are covered in graffiti, and broken furniture litters the floor. Suddenly, they hear a loud bang from the other side of the wall. They investigate but find nothing.

The investigation continues into the early hours of the morning, with the team exploring more cells and corridors and documenting their findings with various pieces of equipment. Whenever they ask a question, they receive an answer through the Spirit Box. It becomes clear to the Lowes that something or someone is communicating with them.

As the sun begins to rise, the team packs up their equipment and reflects on the night's events. They agree that they captured some compelling evidence and experienced some truly bizarre occurrences. However, they also acknowledge that the reformatory is a place of great tragedy and suffering. In the end, the Lowes leave the prison with more questions than answers, but one thing is certain: the Mansfield Reformatory will always be a place of mystery and intrigue.
