The Next Iron Chef season 2 episode 2 titled "Simplicity" aired on November 1, 2009. This episode brought together eight skilled competitors to exhibit their culinary mastery, each vying for the Iron Chef title. The chefs were asked to prepare exquisite meals by sticking to simplicity as much as possible.

For the penultimate course, the chefs were tasked with creating a dessert that represented the indigo color. Chef Chiarello showcased his skills and emerged victorious in this round, impressing judges with his unique use of different ingredients.

Finally, the purple course brought together all the skills of the chef in the rainbow challenge. Chefs were challenged to create a wine cocktail, and again, it was Chef Falkner who came out on top.
