The Sheards is a reality television show that airs on the BET network. The show is more of a documentary drama that follows the lives of a family that is very renown in the gospel world. The family from Detroit known as the Sheards became known as gospel superstars with the family being so talented in the musical arts. The family includes Gospel icon Karen Clark Sheard who is part of a Gospel group called the Clark Sisters. Karen's husband Bishop J. Drew is a very prominent church pastor in Detroit. Their children include Grammy-nominated gospel songstress Kierra Sheard and producer J. Drew Sheard. The show is documented from Kierra and J. Drew's point of view as they balance success, friends, family, and faith. The Sheards brings you in to the everyday lives of a Gospel family that goes through the same things that a normal family goes through. J. Drew struggles with aspect of producing for his family while him and Kierra are getting older and are wanting to go in different directions musically. At the same time, J. Drew's personal life is in turmoil with his relationship with his girlfriend. The stresses of doing Gospel musical performances across the country has instilled a certain closeness amongst them. With J. Drew being a father himself and taking care of his son Jacob Sheard, his responsibilities can become overwhelming at times. In addition, his father Bishop also wants him to become a preacher in his own right and follow in his footsteps instead of focusing solely on music.
