With only 2 weeks and 3,000 miles remaining of the 8-month journey, it will be tough going to get to Tierra del Fuego, particularly with the notoriously unreliable bus. En route, the crew travel through the driest place on earth, Chile's Atacama Desert, check out the country's old political situation at the Wall of the Disappeared and indulge in a wine tasting competition at a world famous winery. But it is the final challenge of getting to the world's southern most city, the freezing Ushuaia on Tierra del Fuego, which dominates the programme.

In this programme the bus spends all its time in Peru travelling through the Andes, visiting the world famous sites of the Nasca Lines, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. The reduced group also has its share of incidents when they are involved in a bus crash on a remote mountain road, and when Stefan gets involved with some local girls at a Cusco nightclub.

Having lost so much time with the bus breakdown in Central America, in making it to Peru the team must decide whether they will go for the final destination of Tierra del Feugo in the available time left to them, or finish the journey short in Argentina's Buenos Aires. This puts a lot of pressure on Helen, who has been in a constant state of depression for a month. With the group deciding go for the finish line, Helen decides to leave the trip. There are sad farewells with the girls and recriminations with the boys.

The trip finally crosses from Central into South America when the bus is shipped from Panama to Ecuador. In this programme the group visits the Panama Canal, hear stories of the infamous General Noriega in Panama City and trek through the Amazon rainforest. But after having problems getting the bus through Ecuadorian customs they find that it has been broken into and many things stolen.

With the group re-united, the group find themselves at an Eco-tourism reserve in Costa Rica. Here they see wildlife of all varieties, ride horses along the countries stunning coastline on a working ranch and have time to relax on beautiful deserted beaches. But once again Stefan is at the centre of things when he is in dispute with the rest of the group. With tensions mounting Helen starts suffering from depression.

The bus is finally out of the garage and the group is on the road again. In Guatemala they visit an active Volcano, the ancient Spanish city of Antigua, see Mayan religious festivals and visit traditional Mayan markets. In Honduras, the group are forced to split up, with some visiting the ANIESCA charity project at a rubbish dump in the country's capital city of Managua, where thousands live of the rubbish, while the others find themselves broken down and lost in the bus high up in the Honduran mountains.

Now in Central America, the bus has a serious breakdown and is stranded in Belize. With the bus broken down the group take the time to rappel down the side of a 300ft cliff and explore the ancient Mayan world in underground caves and at the spectacular Tikal. They also visit Casa Guatemala, an orphanage which feed's, clothes and educates 250 children, and where young volunteers from around the world help out under difficult conditions. Stefan meanwhile shows his true colours by trying to manipulate different people on the bus.

The group is joined by Helen, a new English female crewmember who temporarily lifts the spirits of everyone. She is introduced to life on the bus, but experiences more ups and downs then she expected. The bus itself is also starting to experience a few mechanical problems. Culturally they float around on Mexico City's canals and enjoy a bit of fun at Tulum beach, one of Mexico's tourist hotspot's.

The relationships between the young crew are a feature of this programme as some of the team find time for a bit of romance, while once again, Stefan and Ashley are fiercely arguing again. En route from Las Vegas to Mexico City the group stops off to see native Californian Elephant seals, and in Los Angeles they visit Watts Towers, scene of the LA race riots back in the 70?s. Once into Mexico, everyone is struck down by diarrhoea.

The programme starts in Memphis where the bus visits Gracelands, the home of the late Elvis Presley. From there they journey on to New Orleans where they meet a rugged Alligator hunter before travelling across the mid-West of America visiting Roswell where they meet UFO spotters, the Grand Canyon and the Red Rocks of Sedona. The programme concludes at a Las Vegas nightclub. During the programme Catherine has been threatened to be voted off the bus due to her anti-social behaviour.
