Ep 10. From Out of the Rain

From Out of the Rain is the tenth episode of the second season of Torchwood. In this episode, the team deals with a group of supernatural beings that come from old films that have been forgotten by the world. These beings are called the Night Travellers and they steal people's emotions.

The episode begins with Gwen and Ianto investigating a flickering cinema screen and finding a film reel that appears to be moving on its own. After they bring it back to the Torchwood Hub, the team discovers that the film is haunted by the Night Travellers, a group of performers who were forgotten by the world and trapped in a film. They have now escaped and are taking revenge on those who abandoned them.

The team soon comes to realize that the Night Travellers feed on people's emotions, particularly their fear. They take memories and emotions from their victims, leaving them empty shells. Torchwood must find a way to stop them before anyone else is hurt.

As the team investigates, they discover that the Night Travellers have been stealing emotions from the people of Cardiff for years. They are able to manipulate their victims by projecting images from the forgotten films onto their minds, causing them to relive long-forgotten memories.

Things take a turn for the worse when the Night Travellers target Jack, stealing his memories and emotions. Jack starts to relive a time when he was stranded in World War One, and the team realizes that they need to act fast before he loses himself completely.

Meanwhile, Gwen and Ianto track down the last surviving member of the group who trapped the Night Travellers in the film. He tells them that the only way to defeat the Night Travellers is to destroy the film that they are trapped in.

Torchwood sets out to destroy the film, but they soon discover that the Night Travellers are a lot more powerful than they thought. They are able to manipulate reality itself, turning the Torchwood team's world upside down.

As the episode reaches its climax, Torchwood discovers that the only way to defeat the Night Travellers is to find a way to project their own memories onto the Night Travellers, trapping them once again in the film.

From Out of the Rain is a dark and atmospheric episode of Torchwood, with a strong horror influence. It deals with themes of nostalgia and abandonment, and the dangers of forgetting those who came before us. The episode is well-written and well-acted, with some standout performances from John Barrowman and Eve Myles. Ultimately, it's an emotional journey for the characters, as they fight to save not only Jack but themselves as well.
