Tracey Takes On is a show that follows the life of Tracey Ullman as she takes on various personas and situations. Season 1 episode 3 is titled Nostalgia and it showcases Tracey's talent in assuming different characters.

The episode starts with Tracey as Kay Clark, a Scottish hotelier who is particularly nostalgic about the good old days. She reminisces about simpler times when tourists came to Scotland to enjoy the natural beauty and not just for the whisky. But as she walks through her hotel's dining room, she realizes that the past may not be as good as she remembers it to be. Kay encounters a group of nostalgic older ladies who come in every month to sing and dance to old tunes. They want to perform for the guests in the hotel, but their loud singing and boisterous dancing is far from sophisticated and may put off guests. Kay tries to tell them that their act is not suitable for the hotel, but they don't understand why.

From a Scottish hotelier, Tracey transforms into Chickie, a Jewish Miami grandmother who is nostalgic about her family's traditions. She is the matriarch of a large family, and her granddaughter is getting married soon. Chickie is upset that the young couple is not following the traditional Jewish customs and instead wants to have a theme wedding. She's disgusted at the thought of her granddaughter getting married in a circus-themed dress. Chickie tries to convince her granddaughter that she is missing out on something special by not following traditions. She wants the wedding to be a great celebration for the entire family, but her granddaughter doesn't see things the way she does.

Next, Tracey is seen as Janie Pillsworth, a middle-aged housewife, who is nostalgic about her childhood memories of her beloved Aunt Bea. Janie is feeling low because she never had children of her own, and she misses the love and warmth that her aunt provided her when she was younger. She decides to recreate her aunt's famous apple-tart recipe, but as she starts baking, she realizes that the recipe card is faded and illegible. This sets off a chain reaction of emotions, and Janie takes a moment to reflect on her life choices.

Tracey then transforms into Trevor Aylward, a British lounge singer who is nostalgic for the lost art of chivalry. He believes that women have lost their appreciation for gentlemen and decide to perform a song about it. However, as he looks out at the audience, he realizes that things may not be as black-and-white as he thought. The audience gives him mixed signals, and he realizes that women might prefer men who are more assertive than passive.

The final character that Tracey takes on in this episode is Ricky, a young boy who is living with his grandmother for the summer. Ricky is nostalgic for the good old days of roller-skating, so his grandmother takes him to a local rink. But upon arrival, Ricky finds that roller-skating may no longer be as popular as it once was. He draws interest from a group of kids, who are initially friendly towards him, but eventually tease and taunt him.

All in all, season 1 episode 3 of Tracey Takes On is a journey through various characters' different nostalgic feelings and how it affects their outlook on life and relationships. The episode is a reminder that while nostalgia can be warm and fuzzy, it may not always be an accurate representation of the past.
