Ep 1. Escape from the Darklands

In the season 2 premiere of Trollhunters, entitled "Escape from the Darklands," we pick up where we left off at the end of season 1. Our hero, Jim, is stuck in the Darklands, a dimension ruled by evil trolls who want to take over the human world. Jim's friends - Clara, Toby, and Blinky - are determined to rescue him, even if it means putting themselves in danger.

The episode begins with a flashback to when Jim first entered the Darklands. We see how he was captured by the trolls, who were trying to use him as leverage against the changeling, Nomura, who they believed was a spy for the humans. We also see how Jim made an ally in Argante, a troll who helped him escape from his cell.

Back in the present, Clara and Toby have come up with a plan to enter the Darklands and save Jim. They've enlisted the help of several other trolls, including Dictatious, Blinky's brother. Dictatious is not thrilled about the idea of helping humans, but he agrees to come along because he believes it will help his own agenda.

The group sets off through a portal to the Darklands, but they immediately run into trouble. They're attacked by a horde of goblins, and Dictatious insists that they retreat. However, Clara is determined to press on, and she convinces the other trolls to keep going.

As they travel deeper into the Darklands, they encounter all sorts of dangers - from deadly storms to dangerous creatures. They also run into several allies, including Jim's mentor, Kanjigar, who has been imprisoned by the trolls. Kanjigar reveals that Jim is being held in the heart of the Darklands, which is controlled by the evil Gunmar.

Finally, the group reaches the heart of the Darklands, only to find that Jim is nowhere to be found. Instead, they stumble upon a secret chamber where the trolls are planning an attack on the human world. The trolls capture the group and prepare to sacrifice them to their god.

Just when all seems lost, Jim appears - alive and well. He reveals that he's been hiding out in the Darklands for months, trying to overthrow Gunmar and his minions. Jim and his friends manage to escape from the trolls and return to the human world, but not before a shocking twist leaves them all shaken.

"Escape from the Darklands" is a thrilling episode that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The animation is breathtaking, and the voice acting is top-notch. The episode sets up the rest of the season nicely, introducing new characters and hinting at the challenges to come. If you're a fan of fantasy or animation, Trollhunters is definitely a show to watch.
