Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) is a rich, single guy living in a beach house in Malibu. He has everything he wants except for true love, and he seems to be okay with that. His brother Alan (Jon Cryer) is a chiropractor with a son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), still mourning the breakup of his marriage with his wife Judith (Marin Hinkle). He moves in with Charlie after the separation to start anew.

In the twelfth episode of the first season of Two and a Half Men, titled "Camel Filters and Pheromones," Charlie's one-night stands become a problem for him and everyone around him. Alan is worried that Jake might get the wrong impression about relationships with women, and he confronts Charlie about his behavior.

Meanwhile, Charlie's fiancée, Mia (Emmanuelle Vaugier), is coming over for a romantic weekend, and Charlie wants everything to be perfect. He asks Alan and Jake to clear out of the house for the weekend, but Alan refuses to take Jake away from his home.

Charlie invites Mia over, but she's not happy about the fact that her engagement ring comes from a previous girlfriend. She tries to return it, but Charlie refuses to take it back, causing a rift between them. They eventually make up, but Charlie is still unsure whether he truly wants to get married or not.

Meanwhile, Jake starts to develop an interest in women after seeing Charlie's numerous hookups. Alan tries to talk to him about how to treat women, but Jake is more interested in figuring out how to get them to like him. Alan eventually realizes he has a lot to teach his son about being respectful to women.

As the episode progresses, Charlie's behavior becomes more and more out of control. He ends up sleeping with a woman who works for Mia's father, and things get even more complicated. Alan and Jake try to help Charlie out, but he's resistant to change his ways.

As the episode ends, Charlie has a breakdown and realizes that he needs to change his behavior. He apologizes to Jake and tries to be a better role model for him. Meanwhile, Mia decides to forgive Charlie, and they agree to move forward with their relationship.
