Ep 1. 818-jklpuzo

Alan is still recovering from the heart attack he suffered at Lyndsey's house. Charlie takes care of him and tries to help him get back on his feet. Meanwhile, Jake is struggling at school and gets suspended for drawing a raunchy picture of a girl in his class. Alan tries to talk to him but Jake is too preoccupied with his own problems and doesn't want to hear it.

Charlie decides to take Alan on a trip to Las Vegas to try and lift his spirits. They check into a suite and begin to enjoy themselves. However, things take a turn when Charlie runs into an old girlfriend, Rose. She tells him that she has been stalking him for months and that she knows everything about him. Charlie is taken aback by her confession and doesn't know how to react.

Back in Malibu, Jake is still suspended and not taking things seriously. He spends his days playing video games and ignoring his responsibilities. Alan tries to talk to him again and this time, Jake opens up. He tells Alan that he feels lost and doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. Alan tries to reassure him and tells him that it's okay to not have everything figured out at his age.

In Vegas, Charlie is still dealing with Rose and her obsession with him. She follows him everywhere and interrupts his time with Alan. Charlie tries to get away from her but she always seems to pop up. Alan notices that Charlie is bothered by Rose and confronts him about it. Charlie finally admits that he's scared of her and doesn't know how to make her go away.

Back in Malibu, Jake finally decides that he wants to go to college and get an education. He realizes that he needs to take responsibility for his life and start working towards his future. Alan is proud of him and supports his decision.

In Vegas, Charlie decides to confront Rose and tell her that he's not interested in her anymore. She takes it badly and threatens to hurt him. Charlie is frightened but Alan comes to his rescue and knocks her out with a vase. They call the police and Rose is taken away. Charlie is grateful to Alan for saving him and realizes how important his friendship is to him.

The episode ends with Jake returning home from his suspension and Alan and Charlie welcoming him back. They are all happy to be together again and ready to face whatever challenges come their way.
