Description:

In the first episode of the third season of W1A, the audience is re-introduced to the world of the BBC, where corporate jargon, buzzwords and political correctness reign supreme.

As the episode begins, Director of Strategic Governance, Ian Fletcher (played by Hugh Bonneville) is assigned a new project by the head of the BBC, Tony Hall (Simon Williams). The project is called 'Due North' and is meant to increase diversity in the North of England. However, Fletcher soon realizes that he has no idea what the project is really about, and is forced to rely on his team to help him put together a plan.

Meanwhile, head of values, Anna Rampton (played by Sarah Parish) is busy dealing with the fallout from a failed publicity stunt involving an inflatable whale. As she struggles to come up with a solution, her assistant, Izzy (Ophelia Lovibond) suggests that they hire an American PR firm. However, Anna is hesitant to bring in outside help, and decides to stick with her own team, despite their lack of experience.

Elsewhere, former intern, Will (played by Max Olesker) has been promoted to the position of Junior Development Producer, and is excited to be working on his first project. However, his enthusiasm is short-lived when he realizes that he has no idea what his job actually entails, and is forced to rely on his colleagues to help him figure it out.

As the episode progresses, the various members of the BBC team are shown navigating the intricate and often confusing world of corporate politics. They attend meetings that go nowhere, give presentations that are largely ignored, and struggle to decipher the endless stream of acronyms and buzzwords that are thrown their way.

Despite the chaos and confusion, however, there is a sense of camaraderie and loyalty that runs through the team. They may not always understand each other or know what they're doing, but they are all in this together, and that's what keeps them going.

Overall, the first episode of W1A season three is a hilarious and incisive look at the inner workings of the BBC. With its sharp writing, brilliant cast, and spot-on satire, this show is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys smart, witty comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously.
