Ep 4. Trade

Weekends with Yankee season 2 episode 4 titled "Trade" is all about exploring how trade has shaped New England's economy. In this episode, co-hosts Richard Wiese and Amy Traverso visit various places across New England to learn about the trade that has been happening in the area for centuries.

Starting in Maine, Richard and Amy visit a lobster port and learn about the fascinating lobster industry in the region. They meet with local fishermen and see how they catch lobster and bring them to the shore to be sold to restaurants and markets all over New England.

Mystic was a hub for shipbuilding in the 19th century, with many ships built there going on to be used in various trades such as whaling, trading, and war. Richard and Amy tour the museum and learn about how the ships were built and the impact they had on trade in New England and beyond.

Finally, the hosts travel to Boston to learn about the city's history as a hub of trade. They visit the Old North Church, where Paul Revere famously signaled the start of the American Revolution by hanging lanterns to warn that British troops were advancing. Richard and Amy explore the church and learn about the trade that was happening in the area at the time of the revolution.

Throughout the episode, viewers will see how trade has influenced everything from the food we eat to the buildings we live in and the events that have shaped our country's history.
