Chris and Martin Kratt are going underwater in the second season, in the episode named “Seahorse Rodeo”. As they dive into the ocean, the brothers are fascinated by the coral reefs and the variety of creatures living in them. Suddenly, they spot a group of seahorses swimming past them. Seizing the opportunity, the brothers decide to create Seahorse Power Suits and race Seahorses in the seahorse rodeo.

As they start the race, one of the seahorses accidentally pulls Martin off his Seahorse. Chris is leading the race when he notices that Martin and the seahorse are trapped in some seaweed. Chris tries to save Martin and the seahorse but ends up getting himself tangled in the weeds as well. They then discover a variety of animals such as puffins and dolphins that reside in kelp forests, in which the seaweed becomes a threat.

The Seahorse Power Suits illuminate with a bright light, drawing the attention of a group of glowing sea creatures known as the Siphonophores. The Siphonophores are microscopic creatures that form long chains or colonies. As the Kratt brothers discover its behavior, they understand how its features can also lead to extinction. The story leads to an investigation on how the behavior affects sea life and underwater creatures’ habitat and safety.

The Siphonophores attempt to trap the Seahorse and the Kratt brothers’ Seahorse Power Suits, which have become an unexpected prey for them. Chris and Martin try to avoid the Siphonophores and save themselves from getting trapped. The brothers can’t outswim the Siphonophores, but they figure out that the creatures have a weakness for light. The Seahorse’s movement catches the attention of a pod of dolphins, which come to the Kratt brothers’ rescue, chasing away the Siphonophores.

Later in the episode, Martin is trying to solve the mystery behind the seahorses’ unique feature, but he doesn’t seem to understand the anatomy. The seahorses are fascinating creatures that he thinks are magical. However, in reality, they are specially adapted to life in the reefs, with a long snout that they use to catch tiny prey and their ability to change color to hide from predators. Martin’s curiosity about the creature leads to an investigation on how the seahorse raises the infants and their mating habits, a rare sight that the brothers and their viewers enjoy.
