User Bias is the fourth episode of the first season of Wisdom of the Crowd, a crime and tech drama TV series. The episode kicks off with Jeffrey Tanner (played by Jeremy Piven) who is the creator of the crime-solving application Sophe being approached by a wealthy businessman, Oliver Hill (played by David Alan Basche). Hill wants Sophe to help him find a missing employee, Sharon Wilson, at his company, Hilltop Solutions.

As soon as Sophe's community takes on the case, they come up with several leads that are connected to Wilson's disappearance. However, the more they dig, the more they realize Sharon may not be the innocent victim she initially seemed to be. Several testimonies paint her in a different light, from her being a strong-arm negotiator to her being involved in a fraudulent sale of the company's software.

Tanner's obsession with solving the case clashes with his conscience, as he's forced to question the motives behind his application and how it's being used to find Sharon. The case brings issues of ethical and moral implications that come with using an app that's accessible to anyone.

Meanwhile, the police and DEA are also investigating Hill's company, and Detective Tommy Cavanaugh (played by Richard T. Jones) is suspicious of Sharon's motives as well. He also discovers that someone outside of the company is manipulating the Sophe community into finding Sharon.

Apart from the main storyline, User Bias also explores the personal lives of the characters involved. Tanner is still coping with the death of his daughter and her killer's sentence, while his ex-wife Mia (played by Natalia Tena) is dealing with her new role as a mother and the impact it has had on her career. Cavanaugh, on the other hand, is navigating his relationship with his teenage son, who's growing into a young adult.

Towards the end of the episode, the case takes a dramatic turn, and the Sophe community discovers the true identity of the person who has been leading them on a wild-goose chase. The revelation leads to a high-stakes showdown, and Tanner is forced to make a tough decision involving his application and its users.

Overall, User Bias is an exciting episode that delves deeper into the themes Wisdom of the Crowd explores, namely the consequences of outsourcing justice and putting technology in the hands of the public. The episode raises questions on user bias and how it can affect the outcome of a case, as well as how we maintain our moral compass while making use of technology to solve problems.
