Set in the Victorian era, Year of the Rabbit follows the misadventures of Detective Inspector Rabbit (Matt Berry) and his two very green colleagues, Detective Sergeant Wilbur Strauss (Freddie Fox) and rookie police officer Mabel Wisbech (Susan Wokoma).

In "Episode 2," Rabbit continues to investigate the mysterious deaths of various East End residents. The latest victim is the proprietor of a local pawn shop, and Rabbit suspects that the killer may have taken something of value from the shop.

But as Rabbit begins to dig deeper, he sinks into a world of danger and deceit. He discovers that the killer is connected to a gang of Chinese Triads who run illegal opium dens in the area. Rabbit must navigate a labyrinth of clues and false leads to find the killer, all while dodging the Triads' murderous enforcers.

Meanwhile, Wilbur Strauss finds himself in hot water with the local press when he accidentally kills a journalist who was investigating the pawn shop murder. With his job on the line, Wilbur turns to Mabel for help. She suggests staging a fake confession to throw the press off the scent, but the plan quickly spirals out of control.

As the episode unfolds, Rabbit's investigation leads him into a den of opium-addled thieves and cutthroats, culminating in a gripping showdown with the Triads atop a towering dirigible.

Year of the Rabbit is a clever, irreverent take on traditional detective dramas, infused with dark humor and anachronistic wit. With sharp writing, engaging characters, and a richly textured setting, the show offers a fresh and entertaining twist on the classic whodunit.
