Yeh Meri Family is an Indian web series that portrays a slice of life of a family in the late 90s. It beautifully captures the emotions, struggles, and muddles of the middle-class families of the era. The show is directed by Sameer Saxena and produced by TVF.

In season 1 episode 2 of Yeh Meri Family, titled Vish Amrit, we see the narrative continuing from the first episode's end. The show remits to the night of the first day of school when Harshu's elder brother Dabbu organized a house party in their absence. Harshu returns home to find the house is messed up post the bash, with plates piled up in the sink, food scattered around, and his books school dangerously laying around. Harshu is also angry that Dabbu invited some of his classmates in the house party without his consent.

The episode further takes on with the misadventures the children run into when they try to clean the house before their parents return. They attempt to clean all the mess right from the kitchen to the living room, from dining table to carpet, and within the cupboards, but fail to clean it up entirely. Their efforts become evident when their parents return early due to a cancellation of work commitment. Harshu's father, Vishwanath Gupta, is angry at the disorganized condition of the house and the irresponsible behavior of the kids.

The plot thickens when Vishwanath receives news that his colleague, Dr. Bose, has passed away. Dr. Bose was a dear friend, and his sudden death left Vishwanath disturbed, sad, and vulnerable. The episode takes a sentimental turn when Harshu starts feeling for his father, trying to understand what he was going through. Through the episode, the viewers stay with Harshu, exploring the developing bond with the father, and how he tries to cheer him up.

Another vital aspect of the episode is Harshu's bonding with his elder brother Dabbu. He is shown trying to navigate the relationship's dynamics when he confronts Dabbu and questions his behavior. Harshu comprehends that everyone makes mistakes, but it's necessary to be accountable for them. He explains to Dabbu how he should have trusted him, as this could have saved itself from all the mischief. Later Dabbu comes around and seek for Harshu's help and the duo share their love for numbers.

As the episode progresses, we see glimpses of the sibling bond between Harshu and his sister Chitti. In a school assignment on the internet, Harshu needs his younger sister's help, who has a better understanding of technology than him. While working on the project, Harshu reveals his ambitions of becoming a magician and impressing his crush, Vidhya. Chitti instantly supports him and suggests practicing with a virtual audience.

The episode is not just captivating but induces nostalgia and warmth. It is light-hearted, witty, and emotional, all at once. The series is remarkable in its representation of the late 90s era and the way it captures the emotions of the middle-class family milieu. Each episode in the series adds to the layers of the story, bringing in a relatable, real narrative, and leaving viewers eager to know what happens next.
