In the remote town of Tanana, Alaska, winter is coming to an end and the residents are still recovering from the devastation caused by a recent wildfire. The men of the community have been working tirelessly to repair damage done by the fire, preparing for the next harsh winter. However, before they can fully prepare, they must deal with the aftermath of the fire, including melted permafrost and dangerous mudslides.
In this episode, emotions are running high as the people of Tanana struggle to cope with the damage caused by the wildfire. Charlie Wright, a longtime resident of Tanana, must deal with the loss of his home and possessions. He and his family have been living in a tent since the fire destroyed their home, and now he must decide whether to rebuild or move on.
Meanwhile, Stan Zuray faces a hazardous situation when he attempts to travel across a river swollen with meltwater. In order to reach an important hunting camp, he must navigate treacherous waters and battle strong currents. The stakes are high, as failure to reach the camp could mean a loss of crucial resources for the winter.
In addition, Courtney Agnes sets out on a dangerous search for a missing dog, feared lost in the aftermath of the fire. She braves the muddy terrain to search for the dog, which is a valued member of her family. This search proves to be a test of her determination and courage.
As the season wears on, tensions rise as the community struggles to come to terms with the changes wrought by the devastating fire. With challenging conditions and high stakes, the residents of Tanana must band together to survive the harsh Alaskan wilderness.
