This psychological thriller features Ryan Phillippe portraying the wealthy young Simon Cable, who wakes in a hospital. While Simon knows who he is, he has no memory of the last two years of his life, and must begin sorting through a confusing array of people and memory fragments. Twists and turns begin soon, when Simon is introduced to his wife, Claire. After a short discourse, she leaves, upset, and another woman, Anna, enters claiming to be Simon's wife.
Simon's troubles are just beginning, as Anna informs him that his brother Peter is dead. She also tells Simon that he killed Peter. To complicate things further, it seems Simon had been in this same hospital two years earlier, and he begins snapping back and forth between the two time frames. Desperate, he begins to look for connections between the two times in the people around him, but the hospital staff seems to be misleading him at every turn.
Claire returns, and Simon must deal with some highly troubling memories involving their relationship. As he travels between the two times, he finds people common to both times, and begins to unravel some of his confusion with the help of a patient who has been in the hospital for two years awaiting a heart transplant. While doing all this, Simon must contend with someone who seems to want him dead.
Between two women with whom his relationship is unclear, finding himself in different time frames without warning, hospital staff who seem less than trustworthy, and an unknown person who is trying to kill him, Simon must unravel many layers of subterfuge to find the underlying truths. The i Inside follows Simon along the complex labyrinth of the human mind as he comes to terms with the events in his life.
