In Beyond Scared Straight season 9 episode 6 titled "Douglas, GA: Concrete & Steel," viewers are taken to Coffee County, Georgia, where six at-risk teenagers are confronted with the harsh realities of prison life. The episode opens to the teenagers being escorted into jail cells where inmates already serving time are barking orders at them. The teens are shown crying, covering their faces with their hands, and struggling to keep their composure as the inmates intimidate them.

As the episode progresses, the teenagers are forced to participate in a range of activities designed to simulate life in prison. The teens are shown the day-to-day reality of prison life, including violence and intimidation.

The group is then taken to the prison yard where they are confronted by a group of men who have been incarcerated for years. The prisoners corner the teenagers and start to intimidate them physically and mentally. The teens are shown being pushed, grabbed, and yelled at as the inmates tell them that they need to be tougher and to never back down from a fight.

Later in the episode, the teens are taken to an area where they witness a controlled fight between prisoners. The inmates are fighting bare-knuckle, and the teenagers are aghast at the realization that this is what life in prison is like. The teenagers are asked if they would be able to survive this type of confrontation and are told that if they do not develop a survival instinct, they will end up behind bars.

In the final act of the show, the teenagers are taken to a group therapy session. Here, they are given a chance to confront their issues head-on, in the hope that they will be able to avoid the same mistakes that landed the prisoners before them behind bars. The teenagers learn that the choices they make could be the difference between whether they end up behind bars or not. They are encouraged to make the right choices and to always remember the lessons they learned during their day in jail.
