Ep 21. The Cold in the Case

In season 9, episode 21 of Bones titled "The Cold in the Case," the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a woman whose body was found in a swamp. The victim, who was frozen for months before being dumped in the swamp, is discovered by a group of kids who were playing in the area. Meanwhile, Brennan is dealing with some personal issues of her own. She is worried about her father, who has been in and out of the hospital with heart issues. She confides in her colleague, Dr. Jack Hodgins, who helps her navigate her emotions and offers her support.

As the investigation continues, the team discovers that the murder weapon was a chisel, which is consistent with the victim's artistic background. They narrow down the suspects to two men - the victim’s abusive ex-boyfriend and an artist who had been receiving negative reviews on his work, which the victim had given a positive review.

They interview both men and discover that the artist had been upset about the negative reviews but did not have a motive to kill the victim. However, when they speak to the ex-boyfriend, they find out that he had been stalking the victim and had broken into her apartment several times. He confesses to killing her and dumping her body in the swamp.

The team is able to bring the killer to justice, and Brennan is relieved that they were able to solve the case so quickly. However, her personal struggles continue to weigh on her, and she confides in Booth that she is worried about her father's health and how it will affect her family.

Overall, "The Cold in the Case" is a compelling episode that combines a complex murder investigation with personal struggles that the characters are facing. The show does an excellent job of balancing both storylines and keeping the audience engaged throughout. Fans of Bones will not be disappointed by this episode.
