Peggy's Pageant Fever is the sixth episode of the third season of the hit animated sitcom, King Of The Hill. As the title suggests, the episode revolves around Peggy Hill, the confident, hard-working and sometimes over-ambitious wife of protagonist Hank Hill, who becomes obsessed with winning a local beauty pageant.

Peggy has always been a confident and ambitious person, but her desire to win the pageant takes her to new heights of obsessiveness. She spends all her time preparing for the big event, learning how to walk in heels, practicing her smile, and creating a flawless beauty routine. Peggy even becomes a demanding taskmaster, drilling her friends and family on how to act and speak when they are in her presence.

Hank is initially supportive of Peggy's pageant fever, but as the week progresses, he begins to feel overwhelmed and annoyed by her unyielding focus. Peggy's single-minded pursuit of the crown is affecting their personal lives, and Hank is having trouble keeping up with her demanding schedule. The couple bicker and snap at each other, and Hank starts to remind Peggy that she is overthinking everything.

Meanwhile, Bobby, Hank and Peggy's son, is having problems of his own. Bobby has agreed to go out on a date with Peggy's friend, who is not nearly as attractive as his mother's pageant competitors. When Bobby discovers that she is hopelessly boring, he tries to find ways to get out of the date. He asks his father for any advice, but ends up not following his advice since it is impractical. The situation with Bobby is not helping Peggy's already frazzled nerves.

As the pageant approaches, Peggy's nerves fray and she becomes more demanding and irrational than ever. Her friends, including Nancy, help to coach her and prepare her for the event, but even they are beginning to feel the strain. Peggy is convinced that she has what it takes to win the pageant, and she will stop at nothing to achieve her goal.

When the day of the pageant finally arrives, Hank accompanies Peggy to the event. While Peggy is backstage, getting ready for her big moment, Hank wanders through the crowd of beauty contestants and their families. He begins to realize that Peggy's pageant is not all that it is cracked up to be. The contestants are shallow and vain, and the environment is far from what he would consider a healthy competition.

As the pageant progresses, Peggy becomes increasingly agitated and nervous. She starts to have a panic attack and needs to be talked down by Hank's soothing voice. To his surprise, Peggy finally comes to her senses, realizing that she has become a petty and irrational person. She ultimately decides that she does not want to win the pageant at the expense of her own happiness and those around her.

In the end, Peggy has a moment of clarity and decides to step down from the competition altogether, earning the admiration and respect of her family and friends. Peggy returns home a humbler, happier person, and her relationship with Hank is stronger than ever. Bobby also finds relief since he no longer has to worry about his date.

Peggy's Pageant Fever is an amusing and insightful look at the dangers of being too consumed by ambition. This episode serves as a reminder that sometimes it is better to take a step back and recognize what truly matters in life. For fans of the show, this episode highlights the enduring strength of the Hill family bond, even in moments of great stress and conflict.
