Reaper is an American comedy-drama television series created by Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas for The CW network. The series premiered on September 25, 2007, and ran for two seasons, concluding on May 26, 2009. The show follows the life of Sam Oliver, an underachieving young man who lives in Seattle and works at a home improvement store as a lackey alongside his best friend and slacker sidekick, Bert "Sock" Wysocki. However, Sam's life takes a turn for the worse when his parents reveal to him on his 21st birthday that they sold his soul to the devil.

Sam's new claimant, or "boss" as the devil likes to be called, is a confident, charismatic businessman named Ray Wise, who claims to be the devil in all his incarnations. In order to get out of his contract and save his life, Sam is tasked with working for the devil as a bounty hunter of escaped souls from Hell. Thus begins Sam's double life as a slacker by day and a hunter by night.

Assisting him in his missions are his friends and co-workers, Sock and Ben (Tyler Labine and Rick Gonzalez), who are initially skeptical but eventually become supportive of Sam's new challenges. He is also paired with a female demon named Andi (Missy Peregrym), who works at the nearby coffee shop and is unaware of Sam's true identity.

As Sam juggles his day job, his personal life, and his new responsibilities, he finds himself becoming more and more involved in the dangerous and supernatural world of demons and souls. Complicating matters are his parents, who know about his secret life and are eager to see him fulfill his duties to the devil, and his long-time crush, Andi, who starts to suspect that something is amiss with Sam.

Throughout the series, Sam and his team must hunt down different escaped souls that possess people and cause chaos on Earth. These souls range from a greedy heiress, a vengeful musician, and a deadbeat gambler, to name a few. The missions are often comical and filled with action, as Sam and his team employ creative methods to capture their targets, such as using a bubble bath or a giant vacuum cleaner.

However, Reaper is not just a show about hunting escaped souls. It also explores deeper themes such as the struggle to fulfill one's destiny, the bonds of friendship and family, and the morality of making deals with the devil. As Sam witnesses the consequences of the souls he turns in, he begins to question the morality of his actions and whether he is doing the right thing.

The show features a talented cast, with Bret Harrison as the charming and relatable Sam, Tyler Labine as his hilarious slacker friend Sock, and Missy Peregrym as the strong and independent Andi. Ray Wise steals the show with his charismatic portrayal of the devil, who is both intimidating and comical at the same time. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and the show's witty dialogue and humor keep the audience entertained.

In conclusion, Reaper is a fun and engaging show that combines comedy, drama, and supernatural elements to create a unique and memorable viewing experience. The show's talented cast, engaging storylines, and exploration of deeper themes make it a must-watch for fans of the genre.
