Ep 1. New Life and Vampire

New Life and Vampire is the first episode of the anime series Rosario Vampire. The anime is based on a manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Akihisa Ikeda. The series is a romantic comedy with supernatural elements and takes place in a school for monsters called Yokai Academy. The show follows the story of a human boy named Tsukune Aono, who accidentally ends up in Yokai Academy and must keep his human identity a secret.

The episode begins by introducing Tsukune Aono, a high school student who has failed to enroll in any school due to his poor grades. His parents, both extremely busy with work, decide to enroll him in a boarding school called Yokai Academy. Unaware that it’s a school for monsters, Tsukune is apprehensive and reluctant to attend at first. As he travels to the school by bus, he meets a beautiful girl named Moka Akashiya who is also attending the same school. The bus takes them through a tunnel decorated with creepy ornaments, which is a warning sign for Tsukune about the type of school he is joining.

Upon arrival, Tsukune learns that Yokai Academy is a school for monsters including vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings. As a human, Tsukune is initially scared, but after seeing Moka’s supernatural abilities, he feels more comfortable being around the monsters. Moka reveals that she is a Vampire and has a special Rosario around her neck that helps to control her powers. She then shares her lunch with Tsukune, who is surprised to see that even monsters eat normal food.

Next, they attend their first class with Ms. Nekonome, a pink-haired cat woman who teaches Japanese language. Tsukune is amused to see that the class is made up of all monsters and that he is the only human. Ms. Nekonome’s warnings of the dangers of the school's “monstrous ambiance” fall on deaf ears, but Tsukune is afraid of sharing his identify as a human. During the lecture, Moka senses a problematic aura coming from the closet, revealing that there is a monster locked inside of it. She then frees the trapped monster, who turns out to be a bat named Kou Mukami.

Tsukune is hesitant, and as the sun sets, he transforms into a bat and flies around. He accidentally falls into a water well and loses his human form by the harmful effects of the water. Moka saves Tsukune by throwing a Rosary at him, discovering that he is a human. Surprisingly, Moka is happy to find out that Tsukune is a human, and assures him that he will be accepted by monsters.

However, things start getting interesting when Tsukune meets Kurumu Kurono, a beautiful succubus who is extremely flirtatious towards him. Kurumu is surprised that Moka is sharing her lunch with another guy and is even more surprised to learn that Tsukune is human. She makes advances towards Tsukune, but Moka intervenes and uses her Vampire powers devastating Kurumu. As Tsukune witnesses Moka’s transformation into a powerful being, he is bewildered by the beauty and strength she exhibits.

Towards the end of the episode, another character is introduced: Ginei Morioka, the captain of the Security Committee, whose job is to ensure that the students follow the school rules. He is also the school’s Head of the Newspaper Club, who is keen to interview the freshman students. The episode concludes with Moka telling Tsukune that she wants him to stay at Yokai Academy while sipping tea from his cup. We learn from Moka that there are dangerous monsters in the school and that Tsukune must be prepared to face them.

Overall, the first episode of Rosario Vampire sets up the premise of the series and introduces the various supernatural beings who reside in Yokai Academy. The episode is light-hearted with a tinge of horror, filled with humor and romance. The episode effectively captures the audience’s attention, leaving them excited to find out what happens next.
