Set in 1960s Las Vegas, the show Vegas follows Sheriff Ralph Lamb (Dennis Quaid) as he tries to maintain order in the rapidly growing city. In the pilot episode, we see Lamb and his brother Jack (Jason O'Mara) rounding up a group of thieves who have just robbed a local casino. The Lamb brothers are shown to be tough and no-nonsense, unwilling to tolerate any lawlessness in their town.

Meanwhile, we meet Vincent Savino (Michael Chiklis), a Chicago mobster who has just arrived in Vegas to take over a casino called The Savoy. Savino clashes immediately with Lamb, who sees him as a threat to the peace he has worked hard to establish. Savino is brash and unapologetic, willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants.

As the episode progresses, we see Lamb and Savino engage in a battle of wills, with Lamb determined to keep the mob out of his city and Savino equally determined to make a name for himself in the gambling capital of the world. Along the way, we are introduced to various other characters who will play important roles in the drama that is to come.

One such character is Katherine O'Connell (Carrie-Anne Moss), the assistant district attorney who shares a past with Lamb and is generally supportive of his efforts to keep the peace. However, she also has her own agenda, and as the show progresses we see her grappling with her loyalties and trying to maintain her professional integrity.

Another important character is Mia Rizzo (Sarah Jones), a young woman who works at The Savoy and catches the eye of both Savino and Lamb. Mia is ambitious and self-assured, but also vulnerable, and as the episode unfolds we see her caught up in the dangerous world of Vegas politics.

The show is expertly shot and features some stunning visuals of the Las Vegas landscape. The costumes and sets are also impressive, effectively capturing the glamour and excitement of the era. The acting is top-notch, with Quaid and Chiklis both giving standout performances as the two men battling for control of Vegas.

Overall, the pilot episode of Vegas sets the stage for a thrilling drama that will explore the seedy underbelly of Sin City and the lengths that people will go to in order to achieve their goals. Whether you are a fan of classic gangster movies or just love a good period drama, this show is definitely one to watch.
