Ep 1. Thwack

Nancy Botwin, the now widowed matriarch of the family is back in action after her stint in prison. Her life had been turned upside down following various events leading up to her imprisonment, but she has come out unscathed. Nancy now needs to rebuild her life, and she does so with the help of her family. Thwack is the 1st episode of the sixth season of Weeds, and it begins with a bang.

In this episode, Nancy, with her two sons Shane and Silas, head to Rio de Janeiro to start a new life after her release from prison. She had served three years for the murder of Pilar, the mother of her late husband Esteban Reyes. Following Esteban's death, Nancy became completely broke, and her life spiraled out of control. She ultimately spent three years in prison, but now she is free and ready to start over.

In Rio de Janeiro, she finds herself staying at the mansion of her ex-husband Esteban's mother. Although they have a strained relationship, they put their issues aside for the sake of her two grandsons Stevie and Shane. The boys are happy to be in Rio, but they quickly find out that it is not all fun and games. Hopper, Nancy's former bodyguard, comes to Rio to offer her some work. He tells her he has something that will help them make some quick money. Nancy is immediately hesitant, but after thinking it over, she agrees to take part in a drug deal.

While in Rio, Nancy runs into Cesar, her ex-husband Guillermo's right-hand guy. Cesar informs her that Guillermo has been released from prison and is on his way back to Mexico. Nancy is worried that Guillermo will seek revenge on her and her family, but Cesar assures her that he will take care of it. Nancy is still uncertain about her safety, and with the drug deal going down, she has a lot on her plate.

Shane and Silas, on the other hand, are having their own adventures in Rio. Shane is conflicted about his sexuality and starts to question if he is gay or not. Silas, on the other hand, is happy to be free from his mother's overbearing nature and decides to explore the city on his own. He meets a girl on the beach and they hit it off. She wants him to come back to her place, but when they get there, he discovers that she is a prostitute. He tries to run away, but Big Andy, the pimp, catches him and demands payment. Silas is shocked, but ultimately decides to pay the money and leaves.

The drug deal goes smoothly, and Nancy and the boys collect their money. As they are counting their cash, Silas discovers that Stevie, Nancy's grandson, is missing. In a frantic search for the boy, they finally find him with a group of children. He had been taken from the hotel by a group of street kids, but they soon realized he was of no use to them and left him on the street. Nancy is relieved to have found him, but also furious that the hotel's security was so lax.

Overall, Thwack is an action-packed episode full of adventure and excitement. It shows Nancy's determination to start over and provide for her family, even if it means taking part in illegal drug deals. She faces a lot of challenges in this episode, but ultimately she pulls through and comes out on top. The bond between Nancy and her family is strong, and they rely on each other in difficult times. Although the episode ends on a somewhat positive note, there are still many uncertainties for Nancy and her family, and it remains to be seen how they will manage to navigate through all the obstacles in their way.
