Firetrap is a 2001 action-thriller movie starring Dean Cain, Richard Tyson, and Mel Harris. Directed by Harris Done, the film is about a man named Max Hooper (Cain), a ex-convict who has just been released from prison after being falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit. Once he is back on the outside, Max tries to start over and rebuild his life, but he quickly realizes that it's easier said than done.

Max is repeatedly turned away from job opportunities and finds himself struggling to make ends meet. He decides to take a job working as a night watchman at a run-down department store in order to provide for his daughter and pay off his debts. The department store, however, is not what it seems. It is owned by a corrupt businessman named Wayne (Tyson) who is using it as a front for his illegal drug operations.

Soon after starting his job, Max finds himself in the middle of a fire that has been deliberately set by Wayne in order to destroy evidence of his illegal activities. Max's survival instincts kick in, and he realizes that he is the only one who can stop Wayne and his gang from carrying out their plans.

With the help of the store's surveillance system, Max navigates his way through the burning building, avoiding deadly traps and dangerous enemies. Meanwhile, Wayne and his team are doing everything they can to stop Max and keep their secrets hidden.

Firetrap is a high-intensity, action-packed movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The film features thrilling chase scenes, explosive action, and heart-stopping suspense that will leave you wanting more. Dean Cain delivers a solid performance as Max, the ex-con with a heart of gold who is trying to turn his life around. Richard Tyson is equally impressive as the ruthless thug Wayne.

The supporting cast, including Mel Harris as Max's love interest, adds depth and dimension to the story, making the characters more relatable and the plot more engaging. The film's gritty setting and dark tone create a sense of tension and danger throughout, adding to the overall suspense of the story.

One of the standout features of Firetrap is its use of practical effects. The filmmakers opted for real flames and explosions instead of relying on CGI, creating a more authentic and intense viewing experience. The practical effects also lend a sense of realism to the film that is often missing from modern action movies.

Overall, Firetrap is a well-executed action-thriller that combines suspense, action, and drama into a highly entertaining package. The film's impressive use of practical effects, solid performances, and engaging storyline make it a must-see for fans of the genre. If you're looking for a high-octane, adrenaline-fueled movie, Firetrap is sure to deliver.
