Mark McPherson is the detective charged with finding a murderer who killed a charming woman named Laura. She was found dead on her apartment floor and no one seems to understand why anyone would want to see her dead. McPherson interviews several people in an attempt to get more information, but he still comes back to the same question. All the men who came into contact with Laura seemed to fall in love with her. McPherson does not seem to be exempt from that feeling after seeing her portrait hanging in the apartment. It is something about that magical power that makes him reconsider the entire case.
