Watch The Brother from Another Planet

The Brother from Another Planet was written and directed by John Sayles and stars Joe Morton as a mute, extra-terrestrial hiding out in the streets of New York City. It also stars Daryl Edwards and Rosanna Carter. After his spacecraft crashes, the "brother" makes his way to Harlem where his appearance as a black man lets him blend in, and his quite unusual talents provide him with the means to earn a living and to make human friends. Although he is from another planet, his problems are similar to what any immigrant might face in a new and strange environment with difficult language barriers. He has the same needs we all do for shelter and relationships. Although alien, he is a sympathetic and endearing character and viewers relate to his struggles to make his own way. Serious problems arise when others from his faraway home arrive in his new neighborhood. "Brother" doesn't want to to be found, and with good reason.
