Watch Amigo

The film entitled Amigo is a drama series which takes place during the famous Pilippine American war and portrays some of the events that transpired during the period. The film focuses on the life and experiences of a man known as Rafael Dacanay. Rafael lives in the remote town of Luzon an area which is well known and very fertile for the growing of rice. He is a military officer and works as a captain in the barrio of San Isidro. He has a brother known as Simon who is the captain of the local band of guerillas. Under his leadership he caused the Spanish civil guards to surrender and forcefully assigned Rafael to imprison and watch over their captain padre Hidalgo. Simon’ main reason for doing so is because he forcefully wants to form a revolutionary government in the area without the help of any other person but his brother Rafael. Rafael is not very interested so Simon decides to force and threaten to blackmail him if he does not cooperate. Shortly after, some American soldiers arrive in the area in pursuit of their leader General Emilio. When they find out about the imprisonment of Padre Hidalgo they force Simon and Rafael to release them. Before leaving, the American soldiers set up a post and leave behind some troops to help maintain security in the area. Lieutenant Compton is made head of the new post and he receives very strict orders to maintain peace and security in the barrio. During this period Rafael is forced to work for both the Americans and the Philipinos. The characters in the film include Joel Torre featuring as Rafael, Chris Cooper featuring as Colonel Hardacre, Garret Dillahunt featuring as Lieutenat Compton, DJ Qualls featuring as Zeke, Yul Vazquez featuring as Padre Hidalgo, James Parks featuring as Runnels. The film was written by John Sayles who also directed it. It was produced by the joint efforts of Maggie Renzi, Mario Ontal and Joel Torre.
