The Horse Whisperer is a dramatic film that tells the story of Grace, a young woman with a passion for riding horses. One day Grace is riding her horse Pilgrim with a friend when a truck hits them. Grace’s friend is killed, and Grace is severely injured. One of her legs needs to be amputated. Pilgrim is also severely injured, and some people suggest that he should be put to sleep. Grace’s mother refuses to allow this because she feels Grace needs Pilgrim to get better before she can get better. However, Grace soon falls into a deep depression. Grace’s mom is anxious to help her daughter. She does her research and finds out about Tom Booker, a rancher who lives in Montana. Tom is known as a horse whisperer because he works with horses and helps them heal from traumatic events. Tom agrees to help Pilgrim get better, but he tells Grace that he needs her to help in the healing process as well. Grace and her mom head to Montana to begin the long recovery process. Slowly but surely, Grace and Pilgrim begin to get better. Tom and Grace’s mom also begin to develop romantic feelings for each other, but they are hesitant to act. Grace’s mom is still married to Grace’s father, and Tom has had his heart broken before when his wife left him. Grace’s dad then arrives at the ranch and surprises everyone. At this point in the film, Grace is finally ready to try to ride Pilgrim again. She gets on her horse, and the two ride successfully together. Grace’s dad realizes that Grace’s mom has fallen in love with Tom, and he tells her that she must decide between the two men. Grace’s mother is torn, but she realizes that she loves her family and wants to keep it intact. The film ends with Grace and her parents driving away from the ranch to head back home to the city.
