It's Getting Hot in Here begins with Silver waking up from a nightmare about Teddy's return. She is still traumatized by the fact that Teddy abandoned her after finding out she had the BRCA gene mutation. Meanwhile, Adrianna is busy rehearsing for her upcoming performance at the Hollywood Bowl, but her mind is preoccupied with the guilt she feels over lying to Dixon about their relationship.
Navid is struggling with his feelings for Silver, whom he's been friends with for years. He decides to talk to her about his feelings, but before he can tell her, Liam interrupts them and invites them to a boat party he's hosting. Silver and Navid agree to go, hoping it will take their minds off their problems.
At the boat party, things are heating up between Liam and Annie. Annie has been secretly seeing Liam behind her boyfriend's back, and Liam is starting to fall for her. However, their secret romance is threatened when Liam's ex-girlfriend shows up at the party and starts causing trouble.
Meanwhile, Adrianna's guilt over lying to Dixon reaches a breaking point. She finally confesses the truth to him, but Dixon is understandably hurt and angry. He breaks up with her and tells her he never wants to see her again.
Later, Teddy makes a surprise return to town and runs into Silver. As the episode comes to a close, Navid finally tells Silver how he feels about her and kisses her. However, their moment is interrupted when they hear a loud explosion coming from Liam's boat. Liam and Annie are in danger and it's unclear if they will make it out alive.
