An elderly woman, Mabel Pugliese, purchases a home with her daughter Cathie in Lakeland, Florida. In need of help with household duties, they hire ex-convict Edward Caldwell and he moves in. Eventually he pushes Cathie out and gains full control of Mabel and her well being.
