Ep 1. Pilot

Against the Wall is an American drama television series that premiered on Lifetime on July 31, 2011. The show follows the story of outspoken Chicago police detective, Abby Kowalski, from a family of cops, who finds out that her newest assignment is to work for Internal Affairs. The first episode is called "Pilot," and it sets up the premise of the show.

Abby's introduction in the episode is as a detective who finds herself being offered a job at Internal Affairs after shooting an unarmed teenager. Abby struggles with her conscience over the incident and decides to take the I.A job to clear her conscience. She also has a strained relationship with her father, a retired police officer, and two brothers who work in the police force.

Throughout the episode, we see Abby's conflicted feelings over joining the I.A. She is often questioned by fellow officers who believe that she is turning against them; however, Abby sees the position as a way to ensure the integrity of the police force.

One of the main plot points of the episode is the investigation into a major police corruption scandal involving a well-respected detective who is accused of being involved in drug trafficking. Abby's conflict of interest becomes a major talking point as she tries to prove herself to her new colleagues at I.A, who are skeptical of her intentions.

As the episode progresses, Abby goes through a series of ups and downs as she tries to balance her loyalties to her family, colleagues and her position while investigating the corruption scandal. There are moments of tension as she goes against her colleagues and even her own brother to get to the truth.

Meanwhile, Abby's personal life is also a source of conflict as she navigates her relationship with her boyfriend Rakim. The two have a clear romantic chemistry, but Abby is hesitant to pursue the relationship as Rakim is an ex-convict with a criminal record. This is further complicated when Abby's brother begins investigating Rakim for the earlier episode.

The first episode of Against the Wall sets up a series of conflicts for the show's protagonist, Abby. Between her newfound position at the I.A, her strained relationship with her family and colleagues, and her complicated love life, Abby has her hands full. The episode does a great job of introducing us to the setting and cast of characters and sets up the series for some intense drama.
