Akiba's Trip The Animation is a Japanese anime series that first aired in January 2017. It is based on a PSP and PS Vita video game- Akiba's Trip- that was developed by Acquire in 2011. The show centers around the unique and vibrant culture of Akihabara- a district in Tokyo that is famous for being an otaku (anime and manga fan) and video game hub.
The main character of the show is a shy and awkward high school student named Tamotsu Denkigai. He is a self-proclaimed otaku who spends most of his time in Akihabara indulging in his interests. Tamotsu's life takes a strange turn when he bumps into a mysterious girl named Matome Mayonaka who is on the run from a group of people trying to capture her. Tamotsu gets caught up in the chaos and finds out that Matome is actually a Bugged One- a person that has been infected by a mysterious virus that gives them supernatural abilities.
The Bugged Ones are at the center of the show's plot, and they have to be defeated in a unique and somewhat bizarre way. The only way to get rid of them is by stripping them down to their underwear and exposing them to sunlight- which turns them into ash. This unusual concept leads to a lot of comedy and fan service, making the show appealing to both male and female audiences.
Tamotsu and Matome are joined by a group of eccentric characters as they battle against the Bugged Ones. One of the most notable characters is Arisa Ahokainen- a Finnish anime and manga enthusiast who comes to Akihabara to pursue her interests. Unlike Tamotsu, Arisa is confident and outgoing, and she quickly becomes the leader of the group. Other characters include Niwaka Denkigai- Tamotsu's younger sister who is also an otaku, and Tomatsu Ryuuryuu- a street performer who has a strange obsession with his mask.
The show has a mix of action and comedy, and it does an excellent job of balancing the two elements. The action scenes are well-animated, and there is a good amount of suspense and tension that keeps viewers engaged. The show's humor is on the raunchy side, but it is still hilarious and provides a good contrast to the show's more serious moments.
The show's animation style is bright and colorful, which helps to capture the vibrant atmosphere of Akihabara. The character designs are unique and memorable, and the show uses a lot of pop culture references and Easter eggs that are sure to delight otaku viewers. The soundtrack is also excellent, with a mix of electronic and J-pop tracks that perfectly match the show's energy.
Overall, Akiba's Trip The Animation is an enjoyable and entertaining anime series that is sure to appeal to otaku viewers. It has all the elements that make anime great- interesting characters, a unique and bizarre premise, and excellent animation and music. The show's mix of action and comedy makes it a fun and engaging watch, and viewers will undoubtedly find themselves rooting for Tamotsu and his group of misfit heroes as they battle against the mysterious Bugged Ones.
