In season 3 episode 7 of Alaska: The Last Frontier titled "Hunt in the Clouds," the Kilcher family continues to fight for survival in the wild frontier of Alaska. The episode starts with Otto and Charlotte making a visit to Eivin and Eve’s place to learn how to smoke salmon. Eivin shares with them the art of smoking salmon and the process they use to prepare it. Otto is overwhelmed with the process and admits that it's not something he would do alone, but he's glad to have learned it.

Meanwhile, Atz Lee and Jane set out for a dangerous morning hike, intent on hunting an elusive black bear. They head out to one of the mountain passes, where they have spotted the bear before. Atz Lee, even with a history of broken bones, takes on the treacherous rocky terrain determined to bag a bear and put food on the table. Jane, trained in hunting, is constantly on the lookout for the bear, as it could be lurking anywhere. The two face various weather conditions, and the hike becomes a test of their physical and mental endurance. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles and find the bear?

Back at the Kilcher homestead, it's all hands on deck as Charlotte, Yule, August, and Levi help prepare for a boat trip. They are headed down to Kalinin Bay, a remote area that is only accessible via boat, to collect a much-needed supply of seaweed. The seaweed is a valuable source of nutrients and can be used for various dishes. The journey is not easy as they face rough waters, and the boat struggles to navigate through the sea. They realize that they are going to have to stay the night as it's getting dark, and the tide is too low to leave. They are forced to improvise for the night, with Yule making a shelter with a tarp and fishing net, while the others set up a fire to keep themselves warm. Will they be able to finish their mission the next day, as planned?

On the other side of the homestead, Kilcher family patriarch, Atz Sr., and his sons, Shane and Nikos, prepare for a late-night hunting trip. Their target, a bull moose that's been spotted in the area, is a formidable trophy but is also crucial for their winter survival. They set out on the hunt, enduring the dark, cold, and treacherous terrain. The hunt becomes a test of their skills and endurance. As they search for the moose, they discuss the importance of respecting nature and living off the land. Will they be able to find the moose and make a successful kill?

The episode culminates in a look at the Kilcher family's efforts to ensure their survival. They work together to collect the necessary resources, hunt for food, and preserve their harvest for the harsh winter ahead. With each challenge they face, they prove that they are not only tough but also resourceful. They rely on their skills, their knowledge, and most importantly, on each other for support.

Alaska: The Last Frontier season 3 episode 7 "Hunt in the Clouds" showcases the Kilcher family's will to survive in harsh conditions. It's not just about hunting for food, but also about being resourceful, finding new ways to make use of what the land provides, and working together to overcome the challenges and hardships of living off the grid.
