Ep 16. Decision Time

In Alaska: The Last Frontier season 6 episode 16, entitled Decision Time, we find the Kilchers facing some tough choices. As winter approaches, they must decide how to allocate their resources and plan for the months ahead.

At the start of the episode, we see Otto and his sons Atz and Eivin discussing their plans for the upcoming winter. They need to stockpile enough firewood to last through the cold months, but they're running low on trees in their immediate vicinity. They decide to venture further afield to chop down some trees, but the trek proves more difficult than expected. The terrain is rugged, and their chainsaw breaks down, leaving them stranded in the wilderness. Will they be able to find a solution and make it back with enough wood to sustain them?

Meanwhile, Atz Lee is faced with a decision of his own. His wife Jane injured her ankle earlier in the season, and she's been struggling to keep up with the physical demands of homesteading. Atz Lee needs to figure out a way to make things easier for her, but he's not sure what to do. He enlists the help of his sister Charlotte and brother-in-law Otto Jr. to brainstorm possible solutions.

The Kilchers are also dealing with some unexpected visitors. A group of hunters from out of town has arrived on their property, hoping to bag some big game. Atz Sr. isn't thrilled about the intrusion, but he decides to give them the benefit of the doubt and show them around. However, things quickly escalate when the hunters ignore Atz's warnings and start tracking a moose on Kinny Pond, which is off-limits to hunting. Atz is forced to confront them and make a difficult decision about how to handle the situation.

As the episode unfolds, we see the Kilchers grappling with their choices and the consequences of their actions. Each storyline is intercut with breathtaking shots of the Alaskan wilderness, reminding us of the harsh beauty of this rugged landscape. By the end of the episode, we're left wondering what the future holds for this intrepid family and their homestead. Will they be able to weather the challenges of the coming winter?
