Almost Royal is a fake reality television show broadcast on the BBC and marks the channels debut original comedy program. It centers in on and revolves around the comedic bumblings of two English aristocrats, one male, the other female, Georgie and Poppy respectively as they embark on a journey to America. The series cast stand up comedian Ed Gamble to play the role of Georgie Carlton and stand up comedian Amy Hoggart in the role of Poppy Carlton. Neither were known for stage or film acting before participating in the series. Almost Royal is produced by Burning Bright Productions and was written by Ed Gamble and Amy Hoggart as well as numerous other screenwriters including, Jason Hazely, Samantha Martin, Joel Morris, Seamus Murphy Mitchell, Tom Neenan and Piers Tordy. The show is directed by Chris Faith.
