Steve Smith is an awkward student who doesn't seem to fit in, even among his own family. When he becomes the target of a group of bullies at his school, his parents, Stan and Francine, become concerned and go to great lengths to try to protect their son. Despite their efforts, however, Steve continues to suffer at the hands of the bullies, leading him to take matters into his own hands and devise a plan to get revenge.

Meanwhile, Roger the alien becomes obsessed with a TV show about a man who lives in a haunted castle and becomes convinced that his own house is haunted. When he enlists the help of Hayley, the Smiths' daughter, to investigate, they uncover some surprising secrets about the house and its previous owners.
