Katie becomes obsessed with helping a homeless woman called Yvonne. Initially seen as a distraction, Katie's family starts to get involved when they realize how important Yvonne is to her. With Yvonne's birthday approaching, Katie is determined to find her a good gift, but she starts to feel disheartened when Yvonne gives away presents from others. Meanwhile, Oliver and Greg team up to make their own chili recipe for a contest at the annual chili cook-off, but Katie's responsibilities with Yvonne interfere. As the day of the chili cook-off approaches, tensions rise in Katie's household as each family member tries to deal with their own personal struggles. With the day finally dawning, the family must come together to support both Katie and their own individual aspirations.
