Ep 6. Trading Up

In season 3 episode 6 of American Pickers, titled "Trading Up," Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz head to Illinois to pick a collection that has been in the same family for generations. They arrive at the home of a man named Jim who inherited a vast array of antiques and collectibles from his grandfather.

When Mike and Frank meet Jim, they are amazed at the collection he has amassed over the years. They start going through the items and soon realize that Jim has some incredible finds, including an early 1900s advertising clock, a rare tin sign from the 1930s, and an antique washing machine.

As they continue to look around, they come across a large wooden sculpture of a Native American chief. The sculpture appears to be in great condition, and Jim explains that it was carved by a famous artist in the early 1900s.

Mike and Frank also discover a vintage Dime Store toy display, a 19th-century armoire, and a beautiful cast-iron stove. The stove is in rough shape, but they believe that it can still be restored and sold for a good price.

After spending some time picking through Jim's collection, the duo makes him an offer for everything he has shown them. Jim is hesitant at first, but he ultimately agrees to the deal.

With Jim's collection loaded up in their van, Mike and Frank hit the road to meet a potential buyer for the wooden Native American sculpture. They drive to an antique shop in Missouri and present the sculpture to the owner.

The owner is thrilled with the sculpture and agrees to purchase it for a good price. Mike and Frank also show the owner some of the other items they picked up from Jim's collection. The owner is intrigued, but he needs to think about whether he wants to buy them.

With the sculpture sold, Mike and Frank head to their next destination to try and sell the cast-iron stove. They drive to a restoration shop in Wisconsin and talk to the owner about restoring the stove. The owner agrees to take on the project and restore the stove, making it more valuable.

As the episode comes to a close, Mike and Frank are still on the road, picking new items for their collection. This episode showcases the thrill of the hunt as the American Pickers continue to search for hidden treasures.
