Andy's Dinosaur Adventures season 2 continues with episode 3 titled "Ornithocheirus and Sand Dollar." In this episode, Andy is transported to 127 million years ago in search of the magnificent Ornithocheirus, a huge pterosaur with a wingspan of over 30 feet.
To better understand and observe the Ornithocheirus, Andy visits the Great Oolite limestone of Oxfordshire where the remains of the pterosaur were discovered. With the help of his trusty time-traveling clock, he sets off on his adventure.
On arriving at the time period, Andy is amazed at the vastness of the prehistoric world. He promptly embarks on his mission to locate the Ornithocheirus by scanning the sky and spotting a giant flying creature. As he approaches it, Andy realizes that it is exactly what he had been looking for.
As Andy observes the Ornithocheirus, he notices that it is adept at hunting fishes, but also has a unique way of collecting sand dollars from the ocean floor. The pterosaur plunges into the sea and uses its long beak to pluck sand dollars from the depths. Andy is ecstatic as he observes this fascinating behavior and decides to learn more about it.
Andy's next mission is to travel underwater to explore the ocean floor and learn about sand dollars. He meets a host of sea creatures in the process such as ammonites, belemnites, and crabs but he finally reaches the sand dollar bed.
He watches as some creatures bury themselves in the sand while others crawl around. He picks up a few sand dollars and observes the intricate system of tubes that these creatures use to breathe and move. Once Andy has learned enough about sand dollars, he travels back to the time of the Ornithocheirus.
On returning, Andy uses his newfound knowledge about sand dollars to help the Ornithocheirus. He creates a playful game with the creatures where they pluck the sand dollars and toss them to each other. The pterosaur seems excited with Andy's game and gives him a friendly peck on the forehead as a sign of gratitude.
As the episode draws to a close, Andy sets off on his time-traveling clock to return to the present day. He is sad to leave behind the Ornithocheirus, but he happily takes with him a load of memories and new knowledge about sand dollars. Overall, the episode takes us on a thrilling journey to explore prehistoric times and fascinating sea creatures while teaching us some valuable lessons about wildlife.
