Andy's Prehistoric Adventures is a children's show that teaches them about dinosaurs and how they lived millions of years ago. The second season of this show continues to take Andy on adventures through time as he learns about different types of dinosaurs.
In episode six of season two, Andy travels back to the Late Cretaceous period to learn about the Gigantoraptor and its feathers. As soon as Andy arrives, he encounters a group of dinosaurs that are unfamiliar to him. With the help of his friend, Hatty the hat, he identifies the creatures as Velociraptors.
While watching the Velociraptors prowl around, Andy spots something large and yellow in the distance. Upon closer inspection, he realizes that it's a Gigantoraptor. Even though the Gigantoraptor is a herbivore, its large size could make it dangerous if Andy approaches too closely.
Andy decides to study the Gigantoraptor's feathers from a distance. He learns that the Gigantoraptor's feathers were used in display to attract a mate and to protect itself from the sun's harmful rays. Furthermore, Andy discovers that the Gigantoraptor could shake its tail feathers to deter predators.
As Andy continues studying the Gigantoraptor, he notices that something doesn't look quite right. Some of the feathers appear to be missing, which is unlike what he had previously seen on other dinosaurs' fossils. He digs around in the dirt and finds some tiny scratches near the Gigantoraptor's feathers.
Andy realizes that this dinosaur might have had some unwanted guests, lice. He explains to the audience that lice existed during the Cretaceous period, much like they do today. Lice can spread to other animals and can cause itching and irritation. Andy learns that the Gigantoraptor must have tried to scratch the itch, leading to some of its feathers falling out.
But Andy doesn't just take in information, he also participates in a dinosaur game played by the Velociraptors. Andy and Hatty play the game, running and hiding while trying to collect some dinosaur eggs. Using his knowledge of dinosaurs and where they might usually hide their eggs, Andy and Hatty complete the game and collect a basketful of eggs.
In conclusion, Andy's Prehistoric Adventures season two episode six is an exciting adventure that teaches children about the importance of dinosaur feathers and how they were used for display and protection. Andy also showcases how lice were present during the Cretaceous period and could cause feather fallout in dinosaurs. The episode ends with Andy and Hatty successfully participating in the dinosaur game, adding a new form of interaction that keeps kids entertained while learning.
