Antiques Road Trip is a popular British TV show that follows a group of antique experts as they travel across the UK in search of treasures to sell at auction. In each episode, two experts go head-to-head to see who can make the most money from their purchases. In season 1 episode 8, the experts are Thomas Plant and James Braxton.
The show starts with Thomas and James meeting in their classic cars at their first location in Bristol. They are given £200 each to spend on antiques that they will then take to auction. Thomas is confident and excited about finding some valuable pieces, while James seems more relaxed and curious about what they might come across.
Their first stop is at an antique shop called "Cabinets of Curiosities" where they meet the owner who specialises in vintage taxidermy. Thomas and James are both intrigued by the unusual items on offer, but it is Thomas who manages to strike a deal for a stuffed owl and a mounted salmon. James, however, is not impressed with the prices and decides to pass on the opportunity.
Next, the two experts head to an auction house in Devizes, Wiltshire, where the items from the previous week's episode are being sold. Here, Thomas and James have a chance to see how the market is doing and get a feel for what kind of items are selling well.
After the visit to the auction house, Thomas and James travel to a flea market in Swindon where they hope to find some hidden treasures. James is surprised to find a selection of rare books and decides to make a purchase. Thomas, on the other hand, comes across a unique piece of art made from driftwood and decides to take a chance on it.
The next day, the experts visit the city of Bath where they visit a dealer who specialises in ancient artifacts. James is impressed by a Roman oil lamp but is unable to strike a deal with the dealer. Thomas, however, shows off his bargaining skills and manages to purchase a bronze Greek vase.
Their final stop is in the town of Trowbridge, where they visit a dealer who specialises in vintage toys. James is excited to see a collection of rare Dinky toys, but the prices are too high for him to make a purchase. Thomas, however, decides to buy a vintage pedal car.
The episode ends with Thomas and James heading to an auction in Wiltshire where they will sell their items and see who has made the most profit. With a mix of unusual items and classic antiques, it is anyone's game.
Overall, season 1 episode 8 of Antiques Road Trip is a thrilling and exciting journey through the world of antiques. With two experienced experts going head-to-head, viewers are sure to be entertained as they discover rare treasures and see who comes out on top at the auction.
