Antiques Road Trip is back with their latest season, and we begin with episode one, where two of our beloved antique experts, Charles Hanson and Raj Bisram, start their journey from Oakham, Rutland.
With a budget of £200 each, Charles and Raj will travel across picturesque towns and villages in search of hidden gems that they can purchase and resell at auction houses. As they take turns in the driving seat of their retro car, they will compete against each other to see who can make the most profit.
The first leg of their journey takes them to a 16th-century country estate, where Charles' instincts kick in immediately as he spots a rare Georgian sewing box and a French tapestry. Raj, on the other hand, is busy admiring a pair of Art Deco silver salt and pepper shakers. As they haggle with the dealer, who's been in the antique business for over five decades, who will come out on top?
Their journey continues to Bingham, Nottinghamshire, where Raj is delighted to find a set of six Victorian green glass goblets. Meanwhile, Charles is smitten with a silver sauce boat and a pair of sugar tongs, but with a hefty price tag attached, will he be able to make a profit on it?
Next stop, Retford, where the competition heats up. Charles finds a Georgian pine chest, and Raj lays his eyes on an intricately designed chess set from the 1920s. The dealer tries to sway them with her charm, but will they fall for it?
As they travel through the beautiful countryside, they visit Mansfield, where Charles spots a unique table that he believes is from the 17th century. Raj, on the other hand, is fascinated by an Art Nouveau vase. Will they be able to purchase these items within their budget, and more importantly, will they be able to make a profit at auction?
Their final stop of the day is in Grantham, where they visit a former church that has been converted into an antique shop. Charles zeroes in on a rare set of hand-carved dining chairs from the 19th century, while Raj sets his sights on a silver vesta case from the Edwardian era. However, as they get ready to bid on these items, they find out that they are competing against each other. With emotions running high, who will outbid the other?
With a host of exciting finds, competitive bidding wars, and stunning locations, this episode of Antiques Road Trip promises to be an exhilarating journey for both Charles and Raj. Will they be able to make a profit on their purchases, or will they return empty-handed? Tune in to find out!
