On Episode 16 of Antiques Road Trip Season 2, expert presenters Catherine Southon and Mark Stacey set off on an exciting road trip across the UK in search of the best antiques and collectibles to sell at auction.
Leaving behind their trusty classic cars, they begin their journey in the picturesque town of Bideford in North Devon. Catherine kicks things off with a visit to one of the region’s leading antiques dealers, a specialist in vintage toys and games. She spots a selection of Star Wars memorabilia that could be worth a small fortune at auction but will she be able to negotiate a good price?
Meanwhile, Mark heads to an impressive stately home on the outskirts of Bideford to meet the owners and explore their extensive collection of antiques. He takes a particular interest in a beautiful 18th century sideboard and tries to impress the owners with his knowledge of its history.
With their first purchases secured, Catherine and Mark hit the road, heading north towards the historic city of Bristol. Along the way, they stop off at various antique markets and shops, hoping to find more hidden treasures to add to their collection.
One of their key stops is at the city’s famous antiques quarter, where they encounter a range of unique and unusual items, including a rare collection of vintage advertising posters and a beautifully crafted Victorian chair. As they delve deeper into the area, they also uncover some fascinating insights into the city’s rich industrial heritage.
Back on the road, the duo continue their journey, taking in the stunning scenery of the Cotswolds and the rolling hills of Herefordshire. Here, they find themselves in the midst of a thriving antiques scene, with many independent dealers and shops scattered throughout the area.
At one particular shop, Catherine is drawn to a stunning set of vintage art deco style lights and tries to negotiate a good price. Meanwhile, Mark makes a surprising discovery in a dusty old garage, unearthing a rare and valuable piece of pottery that could be the real treasure of their trip.
As the episode draws to a close, the pair make their way to the final auction house in the market town of Ross-on-Wye. It’s here that all their hard work and expert bargaining skills will be put to the test, as they face off against each other in a bid to make the most profit from their purchases.
With the auctioneer at the helm, the tension in the room is palpable as the bidding begins. Will Catherine’s Star Wars memorabilia dazzle the bidders?
