Ask This Old House Season 4 Episode 25 Cutting Tile; Sump Pump

In this episode of Ask This Old House, host Kevin O'Connor travels to Glastonbury, Connecticut to help a homeowner install a new sump pump in his basement. The homeowner had experienced flooding in the past and wanted to take preventative measures to avoid future damage. Kevin explains the importance of a sump pump and how it functions, then works with the homeowner to install a new one.
Meanwhile, back in the Ask This Old House workshop, Kevin is joined by contractor Tom Silva and plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey. They demonstrate how to cut ceramic tile using a wet saw and a tile cutter, in order to install a new tile backsplash in a kitchen. Tom shares tips on how to properly use these tools, and Richard explains why a backsplash is important in a kitchen and how to properly install it.
Later in the episode, Kevin travels to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to visit a children's hospital that has a unique therapy garden designed specifically for kids. He talks to the landscape architect responsible for the design and construction of the garden and learns about the therapeutic benefits it provides for children undergoing medical treatment.
