Azumanga Daioh is the animated journey of Chiyo Mihama, a child prodigy at an unnamed high school in Japan. The series is considered 'slice of life' in that it follows the characters as they progress through every day situations. Alongside Chiyo we get to know five of her closest classmates and the ways that they both aggravate and help each other along their journey. Azumanga Daioh is revered both for its semi-serious take on Japanese high school life and it's penchant for turning to the surreal. Throughout the show we routinely get to see moments of absolute absurdity enjoyed by the primary cast.
